Hello!
I'm Latte🐹, the game designer of the mystery adventure game <Professor Nowhere>.
It's already been a month.
The sun is warm now, so I can realize that spring is finally here!🌸
As we aimed to launch steam in September, we are both excited and worried about the change of seasons.
I'm sure other indie game teams are like that.
It looks like it's creaking on the outside, but I'm proud that I'm doing it somehow.
These days, the support of team members in the development process is more valuable than the release of games.
Before we get to the main topic, let me first brief you on the direction of the concept after planning,
At the same time as the game system was planned, the art style was defined, and the main character sheet was established.
Second, it was a user flow chart, UI design based on wire frame planning, and implementation within Unity.
In addition, we did various tasks such as market research, competitor analysis, BM design, and project indicators.
It's a development log, so I'll just write down the main updates related to the development!
#Game System
Game system planning is said to be a part that many planners find difficult even though it is the basis of a game.
I also really like games, but I was so lost that I kept wandering and getting a lot of help.
System planning is an article that explains what elements are needed in the game you want to create and what structure and rules they have.
The game consists of programming, graphics, and sound,
It is planned for the purpose of helping the developer🦉 in charge of programming see the big picture of the game.
<Professor Nowhere> is a visual novel mystery adventure game.
Since it's a visual novel genre, I think graphics are more attractive than original systems.
Take a grammar that is comfortable for users of mystery games,
I tried to plan the system in a way that gave it 5% speciality.
What's so special about <Professorr Nowhere>!
It's a combination of mystery adventure and TRPG system!
The traditional TRPG structure is attractive, but I feel bored and ungamed to bring it in as it is
Bringing TRPG atmosphere such as board game tokens, maps, character horses, and dice🎲
We are making you more immersed in the story and character by adding the method of progress, combat, and survival elements of the log-like method⏱️
We are trying to make sure that users can enjoy our world view while making reasoning for survival in scary situations. :)
User flowcharts and wireframes are part of both developer and designer🦔
It is used to constantly check during programming development and UI design and to check each other's progress.
Keep this in mind and write flowcharts and wireframes.
Finally, we can start working on the design!
#Art Style
That's how our game art style is completed!
The spooky and dreamy atmosphere and TRPG style are created with black-and-white contrast and brown filters.
For vintage sensibility, we are designing in a way that makes more paper texture and makes it look like a wooden board in the 50s.
Based on the illustration, a draft of the title screen was also released.
The left side will be the title and the right side will be the setting screen.
I'm worried because the right side is more popular as a result of the X vote🤔
More than that, I'm moved because Nashu's art style is perfect for our game😭
UI design is still in progress!
#The main character sheet
It's the initial draft of the main character, Professor Nowhere. ✨
Which one do you like? I like number 2 and 6.
Based on the initial draft, I decided to take "intellectual but sensitive image" and "handsome face" as points.
Professor Nowhere's character sheet!
The main color of the character is determined by the brown color according to the overall atmosphere of the game.
With glasses that go with a suit, fedora, and signature colors in gold, gold and gold-rimmed glasses became the professor's symbol!
Isn't it attractive to look tired somewhere and a slightly pale face?
While working on the story, I can't wait to release the professor's behind the scenes and settings!
I'm also working on other characters, so please look forward to it. 🥳
#Wrap it up
The game that existed only as an idea was added to the document work and design draft.
I feel like I'm slowly starting to draw our game! Hurrah for the team soufflé latte who did their best! 🎉
In April, I think the game screen and play method will be specified as I work on the scenario and design the prototype.
I think the development will focus on checking whether the plan can come out properly based on the initial setting. :)
UI design and character design will also be updated steadily through X account and Tstory, so please pay a lot of attention!
See you at the next development journal then 🙌
